It all started in 1980 for me

We got our first family computer in 1980.  I was in 6th grade.  It was a Heathkit H8 computer with a Heathkit H19 terminal.  It had 64k of memory and two hard-sector 5 ¼ Floppy drives.  We also had an Anderson-Jacobson Printer (typeball printer).  We used both CP/M and HDOS operating systems for H8.

In 1983 we got a 300 baud modem. That was when I started Networking, by calling local BBSs or CompuServe.

This was main computer I used at home, until I got my high school graduation present.  We did have a TRS-80 model 1 and a Timex Sinclair model 1000 at home also.  And I also used a teletype connected to a mainframe, a Commodore PET and Franklin Ace 1000 (Apple clone) in high School.  But they were always secondary to the H8.

That’s enough for now.  I will expand upon my classes and projects in middle and high school on a future blog post.
